The staff of the funeral home paid attention to detail and were very personal. One major complaint was that the CEO, Douglas Drummond, threaten to cancel my relative's service just two weeks before we had it scheduled. This service had been prepaid by the relative and I was in charge of carrying out the service within the expenses that were offered. In reviewing the expenses there was one cost I was questioning and in doing so, Mr. Drummond took offense to my questioning it and he became angry and agitated to the point that he declared that his funeral home would not honor the contract and would not hold the funeral service. Through some expresson of apolgies on my part he agreed to go forward with the service which we did and it turned out ok. Nothing like threatening a grieving person who is trying to understand the costs as well as having to plan a service only to threaten to cancel the agreement with only two weeks before the service. I will be contacting the Texas Funeral Service Commission to register a complain on Mr. Drummond's ethics and lack of professional empathy.

My experience with one of the funeral home directors Audra Barnes was horrible. I recently requested a price list and then called to ask some follow up questions. Mrs. Barnes stated that their lowest priced package was the Heritage Burial Offering which was about $35,000. However, when I mentioned that the Honor and Tribute Burial packages were cheaper this set her off. Mrs. Barnes said that the Heritage package has everything in it which the company is known for. She said and I quote, "if you want something below the Heritage package you might as well go somewhere else." That statelent tells you all you need to know about Mrs. Barnes. Also keep in mind that at no point in the entire conversation did Mrs. Barnes ever ask what I wanted, she made it clear by her actions that Geo. H. Lewis & Sons funeral home deals with the elite in Houston and if you don't fall in that category you're wasting her time. The Funeral Director Pledge states, we pledge to serve any family in time of need, Mrs. Barnes seems to have forgotten that pledge. Please don't call this funeral home if you're not a celebrity, wealthy, or politically connected. Greedy Funeral Directors like Audra Barnes are very busy and don't have time to deal with the little people. However, as time goes by if you ever move up in status to the upper class she will be happy to serve all your needs.
