Barkley Memorial Funeral Home in Cleburne Street is located near the Children's Museum of Houston, the Menil Collection and is conveniently placed for Interstate 69 access and Midtown. The funeral home looks after the needs of African-American families in the Metro Houston area and is within a 25-mile radius of several cemeteries.
The facility provides both direct burial and direct cremation alongside traditional funeral service with graveside memorial or cremation ceremonies. The spacious chapel welcomes guests with a friendly white facade. There is ample parking available to both sides of the building.
The business began in 1978 as a mortuary in Crocket, Texas. Founders Jacob E. and Jessie M. Barkley opened their funeral home at Cleburne Street as an expansion to their existing business and still manage the Crocket mortuary to this day.
The family-owned and operated business offers families also grief support, pre-planning and the sale of funeral merchandise as part of their overall funeral services.
