This funeral business dates back to the 1860s when it was started as a coffin business from a wagon in Grapevine. By 1929, Lucas Funeral Home opened its first expansion funeral facility in Fort Worth. The business now offers five locations, with the Fort Worth business being housed in a red brick building on the corner of Sylvania and Akers Avenues.
Wingate H. Lucas was the proprietor of Lucas Funeral Homes, and since its founding, it has been passed through six generations of the Lucas family. At the Fort Worth location, the Lucas family joined forces with the Williams Family to better serve the diverse community.
