“ As a twenty year plus resident of Ithaca, I was sickened to hear that a staff member of the Herson Wagner Funeral Home treated the family of my deceased friend with disrespect and went as far as to put hands on a grieving family member. This behavior is unprofessional and unacceptable. Herson has been the go to funeral home of many African American families in this community. For their staff to treat anyone with such rudeness during their time of mourning is not only inappropriate, but also unbecoming to the industry that is here to sooth the spirit and souls of those who are grieving during their final visit with the deceased. An apology should be made by Maggie, to the Cain and Ogburn families. I would also like to recommend Maggie get some sensitivity training when dealing with families during their times of grief, especially families of color. To have called the police during a time when emotions are raw and spirits are low, adds to another level of disrespect and immediate danger. I would not recommend this funeral home for anyone's business until Herson Wagner deals with Maggie and she makes a formal apology to the families involved in this unpleasant matter. ”
“ I just heard very disturbing information regarding your funeral home. To know you kept a family from entering your funeral home to spend last moments with family they will never see again is completely appalling and very disheartening. I would think that in times such as the ones experienced by those you serve, you would have been much more compassionate. On top of that to hear you put your hands on members of the family to push them out of the funeral home and then called the police is deplorable. If compassion and customer care is difficult for your company to display you need to get out of this line of business. Although, it was one person named Maggie, it reflects poorly on your entire company. I would not recommend your services and will be sure the word is spread. ”
“ It's unfortunate to hear that your funeral home doesn't allow the immediate family (of their deceased loved one) to view and fully grieve. You shoved my brother and his mom out of the door!! To all who sees this review, never do business with them! Definitely reporting you to the B.B.B! ”
“ I wish there was a negative five star rating. So we get to this funeral home for an early viewing. The MOMENT we reach the door, Maggie tells us that we can't come in. She says that this is for the immediate family. Well anyone who knows us, knows that me and my brother's tribe is deep by itself. Plus my parents. I tell her who we are and she still refuses to let us in. I reiterated. Now she puts her hands on me and tries to push me back. I STILL kept it cordial. I tell her "you can talk to me without putting your hands on me." (Fade to black Then to RED). Maggie put her hands on my mother and tried to push HER out the door. There was no physical altercation but I promise you, Maggie knew how I felt. Would you believe that she calls the police on us??? Then LIES and says she was assaulted by me and my brother, when she initiated contact. This place lacks compassion and empathy- two elements that are key in times of grief. She then tells me she "loves" my family. I asked her does she know them. She replied no. So you see the disconnection between her words and her actions. I drove all the way from Maryland to kiss my Sister goodbye, just to be lied on and profiled. Please give your money to people who actually care about what you're going through. There wasn't any air conditioning either. That place is designed to take your money, get you in and get you out. Fuck Herson-Wagner Funeral home and I hope they're forced to go out of business. ”
“ Very unprofessional! I would advise anyone living in this area to please go elsewhere to pay your last respects to your loved ones. This place is disrespectful, and assaulted my family member when they came to honor their loved one. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!! ”
“ Very poor customer service!!! ”
