When I was asked to be a pall bearer for a distant cousin’s mother several years ago, I had a seat in the section designated family with my wife. I determined later that the caretakers for the deceased, who did not know me, told the funeral director, Buddy Rushing, I needed to move and sit somewhere else because I was not family. I dutifully moved when he asked me to because I thought it might be for a particular reason, but no, it was just because he had been asked to do it by somebody. Hopefully I will never deal with them again and if I do, I won’t move.
