Frazier-Mitchell Funeral Service in Hershe Street is located in the heart of Houston's historic Great Fifth Ward, convenient for Midtown, Interstates 10 and 69. The funeral home serves the African-American, Anglo- and Hispanic communities of Metro Houston, and is within a 30-mile radius of several cemeteries.
Situated just off Lyons Avenue, the lovely gray and white, 2-story building greets funeral guests with a large, friendly gray and white-striped canopy over the main entrance. Inside, families can expect to find a spacious chapel with comfortable, modern seating and reception rooms that are well-appointed and welcoming.
The family-owned and operated business employs a large team of caring, professional staff. For more than 40 years, the facility has provided traditional burial and cremation funeral service, to which direct cremation and burial were added in recent years as an affordable option.
Established in 1939 by Evelyn R. Banks Mitchell, the funeral home is today managed by licensed funeral director and mortician R. L. Mitchell, who has served the community for more than 42 years. He acquired the business in 1978, now also providing pre-planning and burial insurance as part of the service.
