2 stars because I'm culpable to some degree. I'm partly to blame for my experience b/c a family member works here & I trusted the experience would be professional. Communication is the root of their issues. They don't communicate truth & details about services. Charged for embalming because my loved one had to be stored for a month (she was to be cremated thus this wasn't needed). When questioned, their excuse "you asked for it when you delayed". I was told to have the draft for the program in at a certain day. Family member was involved here BUT repeated calls & emails went unresponsive until the day before the service which is when the final draft was sent for approval. I specifically requested 2 easel pics in the consult that included signing the contract & via email when confirming the draft. I received none as I was told at the service the one present had been purchased by my family member. Taking more responsibility as this was my 1st time having to go through this process, during contract signing I was told by Tim that the benefits claim form was being submitted on my behalf by them so they could be paid out right & I would be as well. When I went to pick up the extra death certificates I paid for I was reminded again that I paid for one FOR THE FUNERAL HOME to submit the benefits forms for us both (by Tim again). This was an outright lie. They should have secured their own DC as they legally can't submit on my behalf (per the insurance company). Full transparency: the cost for cremation was totaled at $3156 (discount of $3025.34; charged $1595 ). Register book $55 (worth maybe $10), 100 programs $225, urn $200, cremation $1100, 5 death certificates $37 (4 received). My only hesitation with making this post was the final cost caused by the discount. My conscious wouldn't rest if someone with no connection to this place were to go through this. I have no doubt something horrid would be added on to their grief. The lies & lack of communication warrant every caution to anyone in grief stay clear.
