Heritage Funeral Home

“ Aside from a relatively minor delay in posting my mother’s obituary, Heritage Funeral Home did a mostly good job…right up until time for the viewing at her church. About 30 minutes prior to when the viewing was supposed to start they still had not arrived at the church with my mother’s body. I called and was assured they were “on the way” and would be there in “about 10 minutes”. They were not. They arrived literally three minutes before the public viewing was to start. (Dad was to have had private time with mom before public viewing started.) By the time all setup was complete it was well past time for the public viewing. So now my choice was to either delay public viewing further or not allow dad private time with her. This is/was completely inexcusable. (Incidentally, Heritage NEVER offered ANY reason or excuse for the delay. They also never offered any form of apology or compensation.) This caused increased stress/concern with nearly all family present in an already sad situation. Though difficult, I fortunately was able to distract dad from the situation so he was unaware of this needless fiasco. One more thing…I gave this Heritage Funeral Home specific instruction to bill ME for the flower arrangement that was to be placed on casket and they indicated they would do so. I never received a bill and investigated to discover they had instead billed and collected money from my father who was already of limited means. ”
