Dating back over 100 years, Parkwest Riverside Memorial Chapel was founded in 1897 as Meyers Livery Stable on the Lower East Side. The business moved twice prior to the present facility, a grand 4-story gothic structure, was built specifically to house the funeral home. Inside the building, an impressive chapel with vaulted ceilings, a large lobby and private planning rooms.
Louis Meyers founded this funeral business to serve New York’s Jewish community. The tradition of impeccable service continues with the Riverside Memorial Chapel, as well as in several other locations throughout New York and Florida.
Traditional Jewish funeral services and burial ceremonies are offered at Parkwest Riverside Memorial Chapel. All practices of the Jewish Law are followed, and families even have the option to transfer the remains to Israel for burial. Direct cremation is offered through the facility, yet cremation ceremonies are not.
