The funeral home is clean and nicely decorated. But their bathroom is downstairs which was very difficult for my grandmother to manage down and back up the stairs. It is not elderly friendly at all. And there was a bad odor down there. The staff is okay. They seem to use people from the street or older people. Which is okay, but they didn't look very polished or knowledgeable answering questions. The kept saying I'll get someone to speak to you. The owner Mr. Hicks wasn't very compassionate. And I wasn't comfortable around him. He seemed like we were taking up his time making arrangements. Ain't that his job? But the most disturbing experience was my great aunt (who died) did not look like herself. Her face was swollen, her eyes under the lids looked too big, her mouth looked distorted in the corner, and you can tell the makeup on her face did not match her complexion. Her face was much lighter than her hands. And they did not clean and trim her nails - it was jagged. Her hands were very dry. Overall, her appearance seemed very rushed. I could see plastic underneath her clothing at the sleeve. I know dead people don't look like living people, but my auntie's face was not hers. I am a big supporter of black businesses, but I cannot recommend using this place. Please consider another funeral home.

My family has used this establishment for years; until recent we have had the worst experience! Recently my great grandmother has passed away. As devastating as this is, nothing is worse than the terrible service and lack of accommodations the staff has provided. My great grandmother arrangements were made by my estranged mentally unstable aunt! The majority of the family live out of state, including the decease eldest daughter. All of which won’t be in attendance, due to short notice of the quick preparation and lack of communication. The funeral home is well aware of this, and has shown no consideration! This is a rushed funeral, and abuse of power! They can’t even accommodate ZOOM (FREEE). As a member of NASW, and a mental health official (psychotherapist’21) there is clear violation! I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, and NASW.

The people that work here has me exasperated. They are not updated with technology. You would think with all the COVID-19 they would have a way for the families of the deceased to view the service without compromising there safety. Everyone should be able to pay there respects, no matter the situation at hand. If we were some of these rich people, they would have made a way to make sure it was viewed by any and everyone. The other thing is that they didn't even show empathy toward my grandmother and it was her 93 year old mother. With all this being said and a host of other things that I care not to touch bases on. I wouldn't pay them to do a service for my dog.

Do not go here.. My family has used this place for years, so far back that my great, great great grandmother was memorIalized here. As of recent my great grandmother has passed away and the way they have handled my family is just disgusting, disrespectful and disgraceful. They allowed a women who is 77 years old with severe mental health issues to make the arrangements. When we spoke to whomever is in charge I believe his name is Raymond Hickman and he admits to knowing that my aunt is mentally unstable, but the arrangement are already paid for so he basically told us oh well. My Nana passed away on Sunday 6/21/20 and they are having the funeral this Thursday 6/25/20. My grandmother is highly upset that she will not make it ALL the way from Georgia in time to pay her last respects to her OWN mother. When we ask if they had zoom available we were told NO..Shame on you and you will NOT get any of our business again.

I love their work, my church family and biological family uses them when our loved ones pass. They are now located on 1878 Amsterdam Avenue , New York, New York 10031. They are so understanding and compassionate! And might I add affordable!
