French Mortuary, Inc. - University is situated right next to UNM Carrie Tingley Hospital in the Citadel region of Albuquerque, NM. The funeral home is easily accessible via Interstates 25 and 40 and is within 6 miles of Albuquerque International Sunport. As the oldest family-owned funeral home in Albuquerque, French Mortuary was established in 1907. Since its founding, the business has grown to include seven locations, including one facility for pre-planning and a cemetery. The University location is housed in a light tan brick building, which is surrounded by desert-inspired landscaping and private lot parking.
Chester T. French was the proprietor of French Mortuary, and the business remains in the family to this day. The mortuary is currently owned and overseen by Chester French Stewart, the third generation of the French family to work in the family business.
