Our friend Mary Sullivan died six weeks ago. She was an independent woman who devoted her life to God, family and friends. Her friends became family. She preplanned and prepaid her funeral expenses completely down to the prayer cards so her family in their sorrow would not have to deal with this.
After six weeks and countless phone calls from her niece, Mary was finally laid to rest just before the planned celebration of her life. The timing is the only reason her niece was able to be present. She went to the cemetery to see if Mary had been buried as it was occurring even though she had requested to be notified.
The only excuses given to the family in the six weeks of calls was that they were too busy to care for Mary.
The cards such a simple reminder of someone’s life were not what Mary requested and the prayer on the back of mine is not readable. Although this well known prayer say “ it is in pardoning that we are pardoned” my suggestion is do not prepay.
