Situated in the Cherry neighborhood of Charlotte, approximately 3 miles southeast of the city center, is Harry & Bryant Funeral Home. The central location within the city gives customers easy access to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Interstates 77 and 277 and several cemeteries, including Old Settlers’ and Elmwood.
Harry & Bryant Funeral Home was founded over a century ago in 1883, which makes it Charlotte’s oldest funeral home and the very first business in all of Mecklenburg County. A 2-story white colonial building houses this funeral and cremation business. The facility includes antique charm, a spacious chapel and ample parking for friends and family.
This funeral home was founded as J.M. Harry Company by John M. Harry and was later joined by James R. Bryant, Sr. James’ sons joined staff in the 1940s and 1950s, and the business remained family owned and operated until it joined the Dignity Memorial network.
For the convenience of families, onsite catered receptions are available following any funeral service or cremation memorial ceremony. Direct cremations provide a low-key option, for those that prefer, and those that choose burial will appreciate family transport to local cemeteries. Online planning and payment are available.
