I were there about 1997 inquiring about my mother's obituary, a copy. Those around when I were a child disappeared. The staff member, whose name I didn't get, were very helpful. I appreciated the copies he gave me of the bill, certificate from Missouri not certified, and something about a phone. I went to Chicago and got a copy of her death certificate, certified by the State of Illinois. The death were August 16, 1967. Later my sister and I visited Washington Park Cemetery and pictures were taken if the headstone. Give relatives were buried in section three, I believe, maybe its 10. The family were surprised that August to find her plot next to her grandmothers, the last one in that section. Grandfather, uncle and nephew as well. My grandmother decorated those graves for years it seems two or three times a year, I would go with her most times. It comforted her. I visit once now if at all. Anyway, as I knew them...she were named Esther Mae Humphrey, the others are Hayles 1944 and 1966, McMillian 1973. I remember the service at Mr. Zion Bapt in Richmond Heights Rev. James Fiddmont, officiating. My grandmother said, she'd never seen the church that full, even the small balcony. My dad held my younger sister not with the family, I sat on the front row with her parents and sister, as she whaled out her name over and over. Donald and hazel Hunter, sat on the opposite side, front row. The soloist sung I Come to the Garden Alone, Marlene Peters. They had to get the body back to refrigeration, heavy with makeup, and probably wax due to scarring they said from an automobile accident. It were Ellis then in the 1967. I never found another obituary, but I know. Karen Jean Rollins in NM
