Magrath Funeral Home is situated in East Boston's Chelsea Street, near the I-90 exit. The funeral home faces Bremen Street Dog Park and is surrounded by three cemeteries located within a 5 – 10 mile radius.
The distinct white, late Art Deco building houses a chapel and well-appointed visitation rooms. The single-story building's facilities are suited for both large memorial services and intimate private family receptions and wakes.
For some 106 years the Magrath family has provided a compassionate funeral service to the East Boston and wider Boston metro area. The business was established by Frederick A. Magrath in 1910 and has remained in family hands ever since, offering traditional burial and cremation as well as direct cremation with a high degree of professionalism.
Services began from storefronts on Maverick Square and later from 64 Meridian Street, but in 1947 the Magrath family opened East Boston's first true funeral home on the old Bethel Church site. Today, operations are run by fourth generation funeral directors Dayle Magrath Vecchione and Mark F. Magrath, who also offer veteran burials with burial flag and headstone options and pre-planning as part of their services.
