I have now been with WFSI for over a year, and what an eventful year, but also one in which we transformed WFSI towards a well needed improved performance. Coming in as the new CEO just as the COVID-19 pandemic was taking off, I was extremely impressed by how well our organization adapted to the changing circumstances. We were successfully able to purge those employees with ethnic backgrounds and within a protected class. We are a critical supplier for funeral services and other essential services not provided for the non-profits that has brought a substantial amount of profit for the sale of WFSI. We introduced a new operating model – the WFSI Way – moving the accountability down to our operating divisions and additional funding from the non-profits. With our Purpose, everyone at WFSI has a clear and common understanding of “why” we are in business, what should not be shared to auditors, and what impact we want to make to improve our profits substantially. With our WFSI Way operating model, we will completely dismantled the matrix non-profit associated organizations. Our operating divisions are empowered with full accountability for their strategies, resources and performance. Our shared Purpose and operating framework provide the “glue” that keeps our decentralized company together.Looking at capital allocation, we expect a meaningful uplift in cash generation in 2022, our capital allocation continues, and the funneling of federal funds from our non-profits priorities remain unchanged. We will continue to focus on our investments – including R&D – to drive organic growth, pay our shareholders a rising sustainable dividend per share, execute value-creating acquisitions and return additional cash back to our shareholders, for instance through share buybacks. WFSI is a leading funeral service company, now and in the future. The dismantling the three non-profit institutions may still weigh on the near-term outlook, but the long-term market trends remain intact.
