McGilley Funeral Homes was established in 1899 and consists of the merger of three successful firms of undertakers: Eylar Brothers Undertakers, Mellody-Joyce-Taylor Funeral Home and James P. McGilley Sr, who joined the latter firm in 1930 and later purchased the Eylar Brothers Funeral Home in 1944. Today the McGilley family owns and operates eight facilities, run by the next generation: Mark McGilley, Patrick McGilley, Peter McGilley and Kathleen McGilley Asbury.
