I remember Costin's used to be very friendly when I was a child, but after the recent experience I would say that that policy has changed and not for the better. I did not feel as if they were there to help our family through this sad time, but instead they were there to process us through their routine without kindness or consideration to our grief. We had a visitation of four hours with a supposed family only hour beforehand, but there was no attempt to keep others out so that the family could have a peaceful moment with the deceased. Then we were not allowed to have any food in the building (and only informed of this rule at the time of the service), but instead we were required to eat outside "on display" to all those entering the building because the tables are situated right there or we could have left the visitation and missed seeing friends and relatives or let our children do without for five hours. Then the day of the funeral the men standing outside making sure the cars were in line were not at all friendly and insisted that we back into narrow parking spaces despite the majority of drivers not being very comfortable backing up. I was merely instructed to do it or else. Then during the one hour calling before the funeral service my children were told they must stay in one room by staff without consulting me because they had the nerve to go back and forth from the chapel room to the family lounge. And I would point out that the family lounge is no proper retreat from the tiring atmosphere because the doors are entirely glass. I will most definitely not be using this funeral home in the future and would not recommend it to anyone else.
