Caldwell-Kirk Mortuary is located in the heart of Denver, a short drive from Denver Zoo and Denver Regency Hyatt Hotel. The funeral home is within 20 – 30 miles of three cemeteries and has looked after the needs of the local African-American community for more than 60 years.

The attractive cream-colored building was originally a Kingdom Hall for Jehovah's Witnesses. After major renovation work in 1974, it was transformed to house not just a spacious chapel, but also comfortable visitation rooms and a place for the Learning to Live Again Organization, which co-founder Ruby Kirk-Gray established in 1979 to provide a grief support group for local families.

Founded in 1949 by the late William H. Kirk and his wife Ruby, the mortuary is today owned and operated by president and general manager Elvin R. Caldwell, Jr., who purchased the mortuary in 1984 and renamed it Caldwell-Kirk Mortuary.

Assisted by a large team of dedicated professionals, the mortuary offers no direct burial but provides direct cremation without ceremony and traditional burial and cremation with memorial services. A Memorial Obituaries Program, catered funeral receptions, pre-planned funeral services and Forethought Life Insurance Plan are also part of the overall funeral service.
