Long Beach Colonial Mortuary Inc. is situated at 638 Atlantic Avenue in central Long Beach, convenient for I-710 access and within a 30-40 mile radius of three cemeteries. The funeral home serves the communities of Long Beach and surrounding areas.
The modern facility welcomes visitors with a friendly white and cream facade and prominent signage at roof level. Surrounded by landscaped gardens, the mortuary offers families a lounge where they can assemble in privacy and comfort, and a visitation area that can accommodate any size of funeral gathering.
The mortuary was originally located at 1760 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and known as Harris Colonial Mortuary. Mr. Gillis Monroe began working for the company in 1976. He purchased the business in 1983 and eventually moved the mortuary to its present location in 1989. The company is still owned and operated by Mr. Monroe, his wife and funeral director Anna C. Monroe, their daughter Karen and son Gillis M. Monroe; they are supported by several dedicated mortuary staff.
Families can choose from three funeral service packages that include direct cremation and direct burial, traditional burial or cremation with a full day visitation/viewing held at the funeral home.
